We are excited to tell you that GH has casted former All My Children and Guiding Light star Rebecca Budig to join the streets of Port Charles! I personally couldnt be happier with this selection. As a huge fan of AMC as well as her character Greenlee I'm ubber excited to see her on my tv again.

Rebecca recently gave birth to her daughter Charlotte Jo Benson, last September --has definitely made her mark on daytime tv. ABC Daytime fans know her as the feisty yet lovable Greenlee Smythe, a role she played on-again, off-again from 1999 through 2011. Her work on AMC earned her Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy nominations in 2001 and 2003. CBS fans might remember her as Guiding Light'sMichelle Bauer, which she played from 1997 to 1998.

Rebecca tweeted today:

"I can't wait to be a part of #GH and to work with a group of very talented people!! #excited"

Budig is to play a new character who head writer Ron Carlivati described as "a real spitfire." Executive producer Frank Valentini also said that this would be a "Killer role."

At this time, there's no word on how Budig's new GH gig will affect her job as host of the syndicated talk show, The Better Show, from which she's been absent due to maternity leave.
