Soap Star Style: Carly Corinthos Jacks

Welcome to the newest addition to the General Hospital Uncensored blog! Each week, I will pick one of our favorite ladies (or gentleman) of Port Charles and highlight one of their looks. I’ll explain the week’s highlighted look and how to pull it off. Next, you’ll find out where to get it for less! I’d love to be able to find exact or almost perfect alternatives for less, but when I can’t, you will always get the best affordable options!

Ok, everyone remember the awesomely catty confrontation between Carly and Jake’s phony wife Hayden, right? But did you SEE what Carly had on? We’ve come to appreciate and love Ms. Corinthos-Jax’s straightforward, boss bitch, business style. She keeps it classy, with an understated sexiness that speaks volumes about her personal style. Last Thursday’s (3/26/15 Episode) outfit was no different.

I fell in love with Carly’s outfit as soon as I saw it. She wore a basic knee length black skirt, simple silver hoop earrings and a basic, but beautiful long sleeved black sweater with open stitch detailing.

Sound plain? It was anything but. The open stitching detail on the sweater is placed across the bust and down the sleeves. It’s an overall business casual look, but the hint of skin peeking through the sweater’s detailing gives it that grown up sex appeal that I love. Since most of you are still reading, and NOT paying that much for a damn sweater, let’s get to the good part! Lucky for us, this trend is very easy to find and wear. There are several variations of the open stitch design and these styles can be found in stores like Target, Ross and even Wal-Mart. JC Penny carries a sweater similar to Carly’s. This sweater retails for $12.99 by designer a.n.a.

The sweater seen on the show was more on the conservative side. If you are feeling bold and want a little more sexy and a lot less sweater, check out ASOS.com for a few options. They have a great black sweater for $21.00.

Carly’s looks can be taken from office to casual by simply swapping the skirt for fitted or skinny jeans. The sweater is loose, so go for a pair that fits close to the ankle to create a nice shape. Add a cute pair of ankle boots or wedges to complete the look. Feeling bold? Try a pair of stilettos for a date night look!
