Soap Star Styles: Fashion Forward or Fashion Fail

Hello and welcome back to your favorite place to discuss all things General Hospital fashion! It’s time to review our favorites. Who was a #fashionfail and who was #fashionforward this week? Who was my fashion Muse of the week? Read on…

Starting off the week’s list is a girl that I just love to hate. Kiki Jerome, I cannot stand the way you dress. The pants were ok, they were simple jeans. The top was actually a very pretty and interesting black and white print, but seemed too loose on her. I hate the way that those shirts make her look very boxy on top; not flattering. Also, that random ass lace down the middle confused the hell out of me. WTF was it there for? Don’t ask me y’all. It’s time for KiKi to dress like a grown up. You wanna commit felonies? You better make sure you dress like a boss. All I know for sure is that Kiki was a clear #fashionfail this week. This look would’ve been better for me if the shirt picked a pattern, stuck with it, and then sucked itself in at the torso. Better fit means better shape. One pattern on this particular shirt means my eyes won’t hurt looking at it.

It pains me to have to do what I am about to do. Samantha Morgan was a #fashionfail for me. Don’t shit bricks ok? Just hear me out. I usually love Sam’s laid back, effortless style. Usually she looks very put together. At the beginning of the week, however, I was totally disappointed in her. The jeans she wore had absolutely no give and gave her the most unflattering pancake ass I’ve ever seen. OMG. Everyone knows Sam has a gorgeous figure, but in those jeans, not so much. I did like the off the shoulder T-shirt but it looked very frump overall. She looked like she had a hard night and really didn’t want to wear clothes that day. Sorry Sam, but your outfit sucked. She would’ve looked more like herself in a better pair of jeans. I know her daddy can afford some if she can’t.

My final disgraced fashionista is Elizabeth Webber. Everyone knows I cannot stand Elizabeth but that’s the reason she’s on here. That dress. Where do I begin? If you think “virgin on her first date without her parents” then you will be halfway there with your visual. I WILL say that the emerald green color was SOOO pretty on her! She should wear that color forever. It brought out her eyes and complimented her fair skin tone. Her hairstyle was unique and away from her face to highlight her features. I adored the lace cap sleeves of the dress but that was about it. The collar was high and rounded. The dress was tea length and lace patterned. There was a strange pleating detail that made it look like Liz had on a bib. Overall, nice fit, but this dressed was kind of young. She looked like she borrowed her mother’s dress to go on her first date. I’m sorry. It’s a #fashionfail only because that bib detail made Liz’s dress completely unsalvageable LOL. HATED IT!!

Now, let’s discuss the women who got it right! Lucy Coe. I know, I know. Really? Yes, really. She’s been looking great lately. (Anyone notice how pretty and young she looked last week in nothing but a robe?) Lucy looked INCREDIBLE in, what I’m going to boldly say, is Port Charles’ signature color of the season. The figure flattering, ¾ sleeve royal blue dress was a stunner. The dress featured a tasteful open cutout at the neckline with a double metallic detail. My favorite part of her look was her earrings. The long, 3 stone earrings were actually three different colors; emerald green at the earlobe, to purple, to blue. The colors paired beautifully and were a great combo with the dress. Lucy is #fashionforward in this outfit because she played with color. She used a color as a neutral and added accent colors. (Fashion note: Try a dark blue or green as a neutral and add a bright color. Thank me after you get compliments…)

\Maxie Jones makes the list again in a look that my fellow GHU groupies were on the fence about. I loved everything about it. Maxie was #fashionforward by wearing the official color of the season; white. White tank top, white jeans, both fitted to a tee. Over this, Maxie drapes a white, sheer, flowy ¾ sleeve, open front blouse. The sleeves have ruffle details at the ends. The blouse is long, and screams “wear me with anything”!! The yellow and purple flower details bring a pop of color to an outfit that would otherwise be colorless. Some thought that Maxie’s look was kind of old. I have to disagree, Maxie stunned. Her look was simple and clean and I would rock the hell out of that sheer shirt in a heartbeat. Overlaying a sheer shirt gives your outfit more dimension and character. Try this look if you are experimenting with patterns and want to ease into the trend without overwhelming yourself.

Finishing off my list of #fashionforward beauties is a woman that I almost placed on the list last week. Hayden Barnes is my Fashion Muse this week. She wore my favorite look! Sheer is definitely in, and this woman rocks it perfectly. You really need to know HOW to rock anything sheer or you will end up looking like a….well, just keep reading. Hayden wore a sheer lace print black skirt. Paired with that tunic length, long sleeved, white collared shirt (which was also see through because of the lattice style cutout detail), this outfit could’ve screamed “Lady of the Night” but it was done right. Hayden’s blouse was long enough to cover her lower half underneath the skirt so no one gets a peep show, but was thin enough not to distract from the skirt. The outfit was extra sexy and subtle enough not to be trashy because the open details were very small. When wearing anything sheer or cutout, if you remember nothing else I say, remember this: The more spaced out your pattern, the sluttier you will most likely look. You’re welcome. LOL

Once again, Thank you for reading! I hope you learned something new about fashion! Do you agree with my choices? I love feedback, so give it to me please! See you next week; same show, same blog.
